MY MOTHER PART 9

photo (1)

When my mother Dorothy came into our family, she started doing all kinds of things with us children. One of the most wonderful was reading us a book every night before bed time. I remember her reading “Black Beauty” “Heidi” and many others. To say the least all of us enjoyed this very much. We would gather in the living room, and sit all around her, I wanted that closeness, the warmth of  my mother.

I already loved reading, but when she started doing this, it opened my curiosity even more; I would get to be a book-worm from then on. THANK YOU MOM!

I found out my mother had a wonderful scene of humor. I remember that for some reason, to be funny, she would start singing opera! It was hilarious! We would start rolling from laughter! What precious memories!

Years ago, after my father died, we went for a couple of moths to “help out” and one day, lots of flies had come into the house; Sammy decided to do away with all of them, so he got a fly swatter and started to kill them one by one. After some time he exclaimed: Man! Those flies are hard to catch! They hide out from me! My mother responded: Well, if you were coming out me with a fly swatter, I would hide from you too! To which we responded with the laughter the joke deserved. Mom has a wonderful sense of humor.

One Christmas my parents decided to give each other a gag gift  The interesting thing about it is was that neither one knew the other was doing  it! When the 25 in the morning arrived, every one took his or her turn opening his or her gift. My parents were always last, first my mother, and then my father; she started to open the box, talking and opening, then, she took the item out! She could not believe it! She started to laugh and then cry, laugh and cry! I don’t know where in the world my father found it, but he gave her a necklace made of donkeys teeth!! Hahahahahah…the laughter lasted for quite a while! My dad said he wanted to give her pearls, and this was the closest he could afford! Hahahahahah…. then it came his turn! My father started to open his gift, when he looked inside, he smiled! Inside there were lots of dental tools! He was a dentist, and a very good one; (the dentist school of the city would send students to him to learn from him). After a few minutes, my father discovered that in the box, were not any new dental tools! They were in fact, some of his own tools that my mother had taken out of his clinic and packed for Christmas. Hahahahahahaha.

THANK YOU MOM FOR THE LAUGHTER, AND FOR ALL THE MEMORIES.
